With a grant from Armenia’s Committee on Science, the institute formed an interdisciplinary group in mathematical geophysics and geoinformatics. Its software and seismic stations were installed in the Karmadon Gorge near the Kolka glacier and in Vladikavkaz, together with the Geophysical Institute of the Vladikavkaz Scientific Centre.
The partners exchange data every week. Director Jon Karapetyan said the main task remains preventing the dangerous consequences of natural phenomena.
