The institute analysed its seismic monitoring records for 2013–2018 and identified anomalous seismic behaviour in Armenia and neighbouring areas. The results were published in the annual reports of the National Academy of Sciences and presented at international conferences, including the European Geosciences Union assembly.
Director Jon Karapetyan said that the earthquake in Turkey and the recent rise in regional seismicity agree with these findings.
