About the data

Since 1900: ISC-GEM Global Instrumental Earthquake Catalogue and the USGS ComCat catalogue, events of magnitude 5 and above between 38.8–41.4° N and 43.3–46.7° E; each row links to its USGS event page. Magnitudes of early events are recalculated (Mw) and their depths are often fixed at 10–15 km.

Before 1900: estimates from historical sources and studies, among them E. Guidoboni and A. Traina (1995), A catalogue of earthquakes in the historical Armenian area; E. Guidoboni, R. Haroutiunian and A. Karakhanian on the Garni earthquake of 1679; M. Gevorgyan et al. (2026), GeoHazards 7(2), 47. Locations and magnitudes of historical earthquakes are approximate.
