Hetq published a feature on the institute. After the 1988 Spitak earthquake destroyed its building, researchers worked in temporary huts for about 25 years. The new building includes a conference room and an auditorium.
The institute’s production division has made eight devices labelled “Made in Armenia”, and its automated wireless reservoir monitoring system sends daily data and emergency alerts. Director Jon Karapetyan, who has led the institute since 2013, called the staff who worked through those years “heroes”.
